By requesting a quote, placing an order, purchasing a ready-made piece through our online shop, or otherwise engaging Rowswell Custom Woodworking ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to the terms outlined below.
Every piece is handcrafted from real wood. Grain pattern, color, and natural characteristics such as knots will vary from piece to piece — including compared to reference photos, past projects, or photos shown on this website. This natural variation is part of working with real wood and is not considered a defect.
A deposit is required when noted as such during the quoting process — typically for projects involving custom engraving or larger-scope work. The deposit amount, if applicable, will be confirmed with you as part of your quote before work begins.
Ready-made pieces bought through our online shop are paid in full at checkout — no deposit or quote is involved. Because each piece is a one-off handmade item, we don't have a fixed return or refund policy; if there's an issue with your order, contact us and we'll work it out with you on a case-by-case basis.
Deposits are fully refundable if a project is cancelled before work has started. Once work has begun, the deposit is non-refundable, as materials purchased for your project are considered part of that work — though unused materials can often be repurposed for future projects.
Lead times vary depending on the size, complexity, and materials involved in each project. An estimated timeline will be provided with your quote.
Ready-made shop purchases are paid in full at checkout by credit or debit card, processed securely through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card details — Stripe handles that directly.
For custom quoted projects, payment is due upon completion (deposit plus remaining balance, where a deposit applies). For custom items requiring shipping, full payment — including shipping costs — is due before the item is shipped. We currently accept cash and e-Transfer for custom work.
Ready-made shop orders currently ship within Canada only; local pickup in Richmond Hill, Ontario is also offered at checkout, free of charge. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout using live carrier rates through our shipping partner, Shippo.
Once an order has been handed to a shipping carrier, responsibility for that shipment rests with the carrier. If your order is lost, delayed, or damaged in transit, we will assist you with filing a claim with the carrier wherever possible, but we are not liable for delays or damage caused during shipping.
With your consent, we may photograph or film your completed project — and sometimes the process of making it — for use in our portfolio and on our social media accounts. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how this consent works and how to withdraw it at any time.
Photos, descriptions, and other content on this website belong to Rowswell Custom Woodworking unless otherwise noted. Reference photos or design ideas you share with us as part of a custom order are used solely for the purpose of completing that order.
While we take great care in the design and construction of every piece, we are not liable for damage resulting from misuse, improper care, or normal wear over time. Our responsibility is limited to the repair or replacement of a piece found to be defective in materials or workmanship, at our discretion.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

Rowswell Custom Woodworking ("we," "us," or "our") operates this website, including the online shop and the quote request form found on it. If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, you can contact us at:

For the purposes of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the owner of Rowswell Custom Woodworking is responsible for compliance with this policy and can be reached using the contact information above.
When you submit a quote request through our Contact page, we collect the following information directly from you:
We only collect the information necessary to understand your project and provide you with an accurate quote. We do not ask for or collect payment information, government ID numbers, or other sensitive personal information through this form.
Shop purchases: When you buy a ready-made piece through our online shop, our checkout collects your name, email address, and shipping address (or confirms local pickup) directly on the site. Before checkout, your postal code is sent to our shipping partner, Shippo, to calculate live shipping rates — see "Shop & Shipping Partners" below.
Custom order shipping addresses: For custom orders requiring shipping, we may separately request your mailing address directly by email once your order has been confirmed. This is used solely to arrange delivery and is handled with the same care described in this policy.
Payment information: For shop purchases, your payment is processed directly by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number. For custom orders paid by e-Transfer, we receive the name associated with your bank account and the payment amount as part of that transfer. In neither case do we store banking details, card numbers, or security question answers — these are handled entirely by Stripe or your financial institution, under their own privacy and security policies, not by us.
Shopping cart: Items you add to your cart before checkout are stored only in your own browser (not sent to us or any third party) until you complete checkout.
We use the information you provide solely to:
We do not use your information for marketing purposes, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
Your quote request is submitted through Forminit, a third-party form-processing service we use to receive and manage submissions. Based on Forminit's own published documentation:
Regardless of Forminit's own retention settings, we manually delete completed submissions — including any uploaded reference photos — once the associated project has been finished and delivered. We do not keep customer submissions indefinitely.
Shop purchases are handled through two third-party services:
Both are established, US-based companies that serve customers internationally, including in Canada. We chose them because they're widely used, reputable providers for small businesses — not because we independently audited their infrastructure. As with Forminit, this means information you provide at checkout may be processed outside Canada.
By submitting the quote request form on our website, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at the email address above, though this may affect our ability to complete a quote or order already in progress.
With your consent, we may photograph or film your completed project — and sometimes the process of making it — for use in our portfolio, on our website, and on our social media accounts (including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook).
This is entirely optional and separate from the information needed to complete your order. We will ask for your consent directly before doing this. You may decline, or withdraw your consent at any time, by contacting us at the email address above — including after photos or footage have already been shared, in which case we will remove them from future use where reasonably possible.
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at rowswellcustomwoodworking@gmail.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information you share with us, including relying on the encryption and security practices of Forminit, Stripe, and Shippo as described above. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
